This is the first time MSU has hosted the Fighting Irish at Breslin Center and only the second meeting of the two teams since 1974. This contest is part of the four-day Big Ten/ACC Challenge, which matches schools from both conferences against each other. Michigan State played its first intercollegiate basketball game in 1899 and today, it is one of the most successful college basketball programs in the country.
