Kansas Speedway Panoramic Framed Print
Kansas Speedway Panoramic Framed Print. This aerial panorama of Kansas Speedway was taken during a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series™ race by Christopher Gjevre. Located about 15 miles west of downtown Kansas City, the construction of this 1.5-mile tri-oval track was completed in the spring of 2001, excavating more than 11 million cubic yards of dirt, enough to fill one million dump trucks. The inaugural NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race was held on September 30, 2001. In February 2012, the Hollywood Casino opened at Kansas Speedway, which overlooks Turn 2 of the track. During the summer of 2012, Kansas Speedway added an infield road course and changed the banking from 15 degrees to variable banking between 17 and 20 degrees.
